A MotoGP drama is unfolding as Fabio Quartararo's future hangs in the balance!
The talented Yamaha rider, who's been with the team since 2021, is now in talks with Honda for the 2027 season. But here's where it gets controversial: his salary demands have reportedly blocked a potential move to Aprilia.
Quartararo, a former MotoGP champion, has had a rough patch lately. Since his win in Germany in 2022, he's only managed six podium finishes in 72 races. And with Yamaha's new V4 engine on the horizon, he's not convinced it's the right move. So, he's looking elsewhere, and Honda seems to be his top choice.
But why did Aprilia pass on this opportunity? Well, it seems Quartararo's salary request was a deal-breaker. Despite a potential pay cut from his current £10 million per year with Yamaha, it was still too much for Aprilia's budget.
So, what does this mean for Quartararo's future? He's now negotiating with Honda, who are eager to sign a big-name rider like him. With Ducati reportedly signing Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez, Honda sees Quartararo as a key addition to their team.
And this is the part most people miss: Honda could completely revamp their rider lineup for 2027. Both Joan Mir and Luca Marini are out of contract at the end of 2026, leaving room for Quartararo to potentially lead a new team.
But here's the million-dollar question: is Honda really Quartararo's best option? With KTM also in the mix, and Aprilia potentially re-entering the picture, the future of MotoGP is anyone's guess.
What do you think? Should Quartararo stay with Yamaha, or is Honda the right move? And what about Aprilia - could they still be in the running? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
