Katerina Siniakova has just etched her name in the history books, tying a record held by a tennis icon!
This week, the WTA announced that Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic has clinched the WTA Year-End Doubles No.1 Ranking, presented by PIF, for an astonishing fifth time. This incredible achievement places her shoulder-to-shoulder with the legendary Martina Navratilova, each now boasting the most year-end No.1 finishes in WTA history.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, Siniakova was honored with a special presentation at the WTA Finals Riyadh presented by PIF. She received her year-end No.1 trophy in a ceremony that celebrated her outstanding 2025 season.
Siniakova's previous reigns at the top came in 2018 (shared with Barbora Krejčíková), 2021, 2022, and 2024. But here's where it gets even more impressive: the week of November 10, 2025, marks Siniakova's 169th week holding the No.1 position, making her the third-longest reigning doubles player in WTA history, trailing only Liezel Huber (199 weeks) and, of course, Navratilova (237 weeks).
Her 2025 season has been nothing short of spectacular. Siniakova showcased her versatility by partnering with different players and securing four titles. These victories included the Australian Open and the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, both with Taylor Townsend. She also triumphed at the Dongfeng · Voyah Wuhan Open with Storm Hunter and added a WTA 500 title at the Korea Open Tennis Championships with Barbora Krejcikova, her long-time partner.
"It feels very special, it’s amazing for me and I’m just so happy I've done it again," Siniakova shared, expressing her joy and gratitude. "There's been so many great memories this season and I’m just so grateful I can lift this trophy again."
Adding to her already impressive resume, Siniakova and Townsend reached the US Open final and are currently competing in the WTA Finals Riyadh presented by PIF, where they have already secured a spot in the semifinals after two group stage wins.
Siniakova's consistency, adaptability, and competitive spirit continue to solidify her place among the greats of women’s doubles. But, does this achievement make her the greatest doubles player of all time? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
