Breaking News: Samsung's Galaxy S25, Fold 7, and Flip 7 are getting a December 2025 Update!
It's official: Samsung is rolling out its December 2025 security update to the Galaxy S25 series, along with the Fold 7 and Flip 7. This means enhanced security for your devices! The update is currently hitting South Korea, but don't worry, it's expected to expand to other markets soon.
What's in the Update?
The update includes the latest security patches. For the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge, the firmware build version is BYKG. The exact size of the update will vary depending on your model, but expect it to be under 600MB. It's possible that Samsung has also optimized the software in anticipation of the One UI 8.5 Beta. However, the update itself doesn't introduce any new features.
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the firmware release carries the build version AYKE. The OTA package weighs about 600MB for the Fold model. It's uncertain whether Samsung will launch the One UI 8.5 Beta for these foldable devices. The stable version is anticipated to arrive sometime in the first half of 2026. This will be the first major feature update for these foldables, which will ship with One UI 8.
What's New in Security?
This December 2025 security update includes fixes for nearly 70 vulnerabilities. A significant 11 of these address issues specific to One UI, while the remaining patches come from Google for the Android OS. To check for the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
One UI 8.5 Beta - What to Expect?
If you're eager to try the One UI 8.5 Beta, keep an eye on the Beta page in the Samsung Members app. The beta program's availability may be limited. While there's no official list yet, it could be restricted to South Korea, India, Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US. Keep an eye out for the official release.
But here's where it gets controversial... Could these updates be a sign of Samsung's commitment to long-term support, or is it just the bare minimum? What do you think about the fact that these updates are rolling out in phases? Do you believe Samsung should be doing more? Share your thoughts in the comments!
