Imagine this: you're out surfing, enjoying the waves, when suddenly, a fin slices through the water near you. Your heart leaps into your throat, right? We've all been conditioned by movies like Jaws to fear what lurks beneath, and the thought of a shark – a carnivorous torpedo – is enough to send shivers down anyone's spine. But what if it's not a shark?
Recently, a group of surfers in San Clemente got a serious surprise, and it wasn't what they expected.
The moment was captured by the surf videography channel, Beefs. Known for its Southern California surf edits, including coverage of the Wedge and the Palm Springs Surf Club, Beefs took a break from its usual content. Instead, they focused on the Surfline cam, capturing a clip of a dolphin causing absolute chaos in the San Clemente lineup.
The caption perfectly sums it up: "When you pull up Surfline cam and see this!" The video shows a dolphin making a sudden, unexpected appearance, causing surfers to paddle frantically away.
It's a reminder that sometimes, what we fear most turns out to be something completely different.
What do you think? Have you ever had a similar experience in the water? Share your thoughts in the comments – did you paddle away just as fast?
